Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba started studying acting in California while in her early teens and began her career with various modeling and commercial jobs. She landed her first film appearance at the age of 13 in the 1994 movie Camp Nowhere and her first recurring television role on the show The Secret World of Alex Mack around the same time. However, it was her leading role in the science fiction series Dark Angel that attracted Hollywood’s attention and her portrayal of comic book heroine Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four movie series that really catapulted her to fame.

It was on the set of Fantastic Four that Alba met her future husband, Cash Warren, whom she married in 2008. The couple went on to have two daughters, which Alba called an overwhelming and “profound experience” that made her feel “an intense responsibility to give her children the best possible start” in life. It was because of her need to help other mothers and their children also achieve a great beginning that in 2012, Alba and her business partner launched The Honest Company, which sells non-toxic, healthy household items and body care products and donates parts of the proceeds to families in need by partnering with American non-profits, such as Baby2Baby, ONE and Project HOME.

Whether it is providing financial support to childhood health research or contributing baby supplies to poverty-stricken families, Alba’s company is dedicated to the idea that giving back time, money and products are all equally value. Alba is a big believer in taking care of the planet and the families that live in it, and feels that a large part of that responsibility lies within working to solve critical health and social issues in communities.

Alba sets a wonderful example for her children and other mothers everywhere by taking care of her body with the same passion she puts into her work and family, often landing on top lists such as Maxium’s Hot 100 and The 99 Most Desirable Women. She trains regularly with Ramona Braganza, an ex-gymnast and NFL cheerleader, who frequently works with many of Hollywood’s stars. Braganza maintains that anyone can get fit, as long as they’re determined to make the time for it.

Alba spends the majority of her daily one-hour workouts mixing it up between bursts of cardio and strength training. She also regularly practices various new fitness trends, such as hot power flow yoga, to change up her routine and keep herself interested. She says that on days when she’s not feeling particularly motivated to exercise, she thinks about her children and how important it is for her to maintain her health for them.

“As I’ve gotten older and after I became a mom, it became more of a priority to be healthy for the right reasons. It’s more important to have a balanced approach instead of trying to be perfect,” she said. “I don’t deprive myself … I have [junk] if I want it. When I do feel that I am depriving myself, I find that I binge. That’s not a balanced way to go about it.”
