Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez began her career in the late 80s as a dancer by appearing in numerous music videos and stage musicals. In 1990, she won a national dance competition and earned a spot dancing on the Fox television series, “In Living Color.” From there she landed a few small acting jobs, but her major break came in 1997 when she played the title role in Selena, a biopic of the Tejano pop singer Selena Quintillana Perez, who had been killed by a fan a few years prior to the movie’s release. Lopez earned major praise for her performance in the role, receiving a Golden Globe nomination and becoming the highest-paid actress in history with a $1 million dollar paycheck. Soon after, Lopez’s musical career took off when she released her debut pop album, which went platinum within two weeks. Today, Lopez cohosts the singing competition series, “American Idol,” has starred in numerous box office movies, released many popular albums, and launched successful fragrance and clothing lines.

Known for her phenomenal dancer physique, Lopez remains dedicated to staying in shape through fun and vigorous workouts. She likes to incorporate variety into her exercise routines by changing the workouts frequently, which her trainer says is a great way to ensure the muscles stay challenged. Lopez fits her workouts into her busy schedule by devoting just one hour a day to exercise, which keeps her daily routine manageable. She includes 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of muscular structure into each workout, and also sticks to a plant-based diet.

Lopez is now developing her own line of vegan health supplements. Having grown up on a diet of rice, beans and pork, Lopez says fruits and veggies were not part of her family’s meals and she now really enjoys eating healthy. “I feel great mentally and physically,” she says about her change in eating habits. “And I didn’t know how good you can feel when you put healthy stuff in your body.”

Believing that losing weight beyond a certain limit is a waste of energy, Lopez instead focuses on toning her entire body in order to feel and look good. She loves her body the way it is and concentrates on looking fit and feeling healthy. “I feel better when I’m in shape and taking care of myself,” she said. “If you want other people to love you, you have to take care of yourself first.”
